Profile Knife Grinding and Moulder Set-up and Operation.

This is a course designed to extend the knowledge base of profile knife grinders, moulder operators, and supervisory personnel that work with and around moulder equipment.  To date there has been over 50 of these trainings conducted with nearly 200 graduates.   This two day training covers everything from technical information on how to set-up and operate a profile grinder and moulder to identifying and correcting various machining defects.  Much of the training is designed to conceptualize the idea of what axial constant means and how to use it.  Hopefully, after completion of this training all students have the fundamental idea of how to get from the drawing or sample through the grinder and onto the moulder without having to make any adjustments along the process.

This course is sponsored the UK Department of Forestry, UK Wood Utilization Center, and the UK Cooperative Extension Service.  The department and college have been and continue to be persistent in keeping the cost of the trainings to a minimum in order to keep them affordable for anyone in the industry.  On day one the training starts at 9:00 am so that participants can drive to Quicksand that morning to avoid the cost of a hotel room (when the driving distance is reasonable) and  normally conclude the trainings by 4:30 pm on day two to leave enough time for most participants to get home at a reasonable hour.
