Template Making and Tooling Design
Template making and tooling design is a serviced offered by the University of Kentucky’s Department of Forestry, The UK Cooperative Extension Service, and The UK Wood Utilization Center. This service is provided at no cost for in state companies and plants that have sent employees to the Profile Knife Grinding and Moulder Set-Up and Operation Short Course. There will be no charge for this service for in-state folks as long as budgets and costs remain the same. Out of state companies and plants can also take advantage of this service for a small charge.
To start the process contact Bobby Ammerman by phone or e-mail. At that point there is usually discussion and agreement on delivery date. A drawing or sample of product to be moulded will need to be faxed or mailed to the office. In most cases further discussion will need to occur in order to deal with the orientation of product through the moulder and what tools are going to be used to machine what specific areas of the product.
